Women's groups marched this Tuesday in the capital of Jujuy to claim the State, considering that "it is not doing anything" against gender violence in the province and demanded justice for the femicide of Débora Cano, whose body was found last Saturday with signs of hanging, in an event for which a 26-year-old young man is being held as the main suspect in the crime.

"The State does not do what it has to do. In this case we had previous complaints. Here they went and the State did nothing, therefore, the situation is serious," said Mariana Vargas, a representative of the Jujuy Women's Multisectoral , which called for mobilization in the capital city, with replicas of mobilizations that occurred in other towns in the province.

"The truth is that public policies to end gender violence are absolutely insufficient in the province," Vargas added, arguing that there is an "absolute failure" of the government regarding addressing the problem and that "it is not really known what actions are implemented and how much money is invested".

In this sense, she also indicated that "the highest rates of femicide in Jujuy occurred with the government of Gerardo Morales" and gave as an example that "there are a lot of complaints in the police stations where no protection procedure is activated."
