An armed man was detained by police while loitering at an election campaign event in the US city of Los Angeles for Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., son and nephew respectively of those assassinated Robert and John Kennedy in the 1960s. .

The man was detained by a private security team and later arrested by the police when he approached the candidate.

 

Kennedy said this Saturday on social networks that he is "very grateful" for the performance of the security personnel and reiterated to the President of the United States, Joe Biden, that he needs protection from the Secret Service.

 

"I continue to hope that President Biden will grant me Secret Service protection. I am the first presidential candidate for whom the White House has rejected a request for protection," he said.

 

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, the victim of a gun attack in Dallas, Texas, in 1963, and the son of former Attorney General Robert F.
