Israel's Attorney General, Gali Baharav-Miara, granted the National Police approval to use the Pegasus software, questioned for being used to spy on cell phones of presidents, journalists and activists, as a tool to stop the wave of criminal violence in the country's Arab communities, which has already left 190 dead since January. Baharav-Miara issued the order to specifically investigate the murders of five members of an Arab family the day before. The deaths, which occurred in the Bedouin city of Basmat Tabun, in northern Israel, appear to be linked to an episode of clashes between criminal gangs in Haifa, the Europa Press news agency reported.
