They performed the first simultaneous multi-organ transplant in a public hospital in Córdoba

Professionals from a multidisciplinary team at the Córdoba Hospital, located in the provincial capital, performed the first simultaneous multi-organ transplant (heart, kidney and pancreas), the first to be carried out in a local public health center, and which required more than 36 hours , reported from the Government House of Cordoba. According to official information, the procurement, ablation and transplant procedures were carried out last August with more than 36 hours of work, in which more than 100 specialized medical professionals from the intensive care and coronary unit of the Córdoba Hospital participated. in addition to the Ablation and Implant Coordinating Body of Córdoba (Ecodaic). It was also specified that three organs (heart, kidney and pancreas) were ablated and transplanted to two people who had already been discharged, and that the procedure was carried out through parallel planning and with a minimum of cold ischemia time (when interrupted). or reduces the supply of blood, oxygen and nutrients to these organs). They also explained that the surgery began in the first operating room, with the procedure of ablation of organs and tissues from the donor. In parallel, two other operating rooms were prepared, in which different teams performed the implants. In this regard, they added that in one of the operating rooms a heart transplant was performed on a 38-year-old person; while in the other, a pancreas and kidney transplant was performed on a 28-year-old adult.
