The detained man who is being tried for the crime and disappearance of the lawyer Salvador Altamura, committed in July 2020 in Quilmes, said this Monday that he was "innocent", clarified that the victim was his "friend" and that she was in debt and that for that reason reason "he wanted to leave" and that he, at the time, evaded investigators because he felt "afraid," judicial sources reported. This is Rubén Darío Dening, who during a testimony of almost four hours reiterated his innocence before the Oral Criminal Court (TOC) 3 of Quilmeño, which is trying him for the crime of “robbery qualified by the use of a real key in real competition with homicide criminis causa". After his statement, the rest of the witnesses withdrew and the court went into an intermission room until Friday at 10 o'clock when the parties will make their respective arguments. According to sources, Dening (55) began to testify at 10:30 and from the beginning he stated that he is “innocent” and that he wants his “friend” to be found. Although at one point he tried to link Altamura's case with Chief Commissioner Francisco Centurión, arrested for the disappearance of another young man named Lucas Escalante and who has been wanted since last December 9, the accused ended up acknowledging that he learned of that fact from television. Then, Dening pointed out that Altamura had “debts” and that in recent days his friend “was afraid and wanted to leave.” Asked why he fled when he was charged, the accused maintained that he was afraid and that, in reality, the money that was seized from him when they finally captured him were “his own savings.” In turn, Dening said he did not remember what he did between 5 and 11 p.m. on the day that investigators believe Altamura was murdered, whom, he explained, he loved “a lot” and helped him train to race a motorcycle. . In another section of his statement, the accused denied that Altamura had lent him money, but, on the other hand, he was much better off financially than the victim.
