This Sunday, volunteer firefighters and specialized brigade members contained a major forest fire near the Cordoba town of San Lorenzo, in the Traslasierra Valley, provincial sources reported. The focus developed in a sector called El Carrizal, a few kilometers from the tourist Mina Clavero and Villa Cura Brochero, and this Sunday at dusk the work of the brigade members continued because there is an unstable perimeter. On a day in which the expected rains, which were predicted in a large part of the province, only occurred in some parts of the eastern province, the drought continues to complicate the situation, while the alert for the arrival of storms and precipitation remains. The fire that developed in San Lorenzo devastated native forest and countryside vegetation, and the greatest concern was for the proximity of the housing area. The extreme alert for the risk of forest fires remains in force for the entire province at least until December 31, and the authorities requested extreme care measures to avoid the start of other fires.
