The president of the Argentine Episcopal Conference (CEA) and bishop of San Isidro, Oscar Ojea, highlighted that the Church took "an irreversible step" in the Synod of Synodality that closed its first phase in the Vatican after a month of work, in in which religious and lay people from around the world reflected "with the poor at the center" and highlighted the importance "of listening and accompaniment" for all people who have felt hurt, in a framework of "fraternity" among the participants . "The Church, at this stage of the Synod of Synodality, has taken an irreversible step: the way of walking of the Church has to be a way of walking together as a reflection of those round tables where cardinals and bishops spoke equally. the same with our religious men and women, lay men and women," said Ojea in an interview with Télam when analyzing the meeting in which 464 members of the Church, men and women, worked throughout October to provide reflections on the future of the Church. After the publication late on Saturday of the synthesis document in which the main concerns of the Synodal Assembly were raised and which will serve as the basis for the second phase to be carried out in October 2024 in Rome, Ojea highlighted the step taken "to continue working together and becoming aware of the co-responsibility that we all have to preach the Gospel and take it to every corner."
