A French tourist died this Thursday when he became ill at a police station in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Retiro where he had gone to report the theft of a backpack near the Bus Terminal, according to police sources. The incident occurred in the afternoon at Neighborhood Police Station 1A of the City of Buenos Aires Police, located at Avenida de los Inmigrantes 2250, and the victim was identified by investigators as Andrés René Mateier (77), of French nationality. According to the investigations, Mateier entered the section accompanied by his wife with the intention of filing a report for a robbery, but inside the guard office he suffered a decompensation and fell to the floor. As a result of the fall, the tourist apparently hit his head on the ground and the troops called an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME), whose medical staff confirmed the death. Police sources assured that the Buenos Aires Correctional and Criminal Prosecutor's Office 46 was immediately intervened, which ordered a series of expert reports, including the seizure of the section's security cameras, as well as a survey of cameras in the area of the Retirement Bus Terminal.
