In the volatile world of real estate, success often hinges on more than market knowledge — mindset and perseverance are key. Navigating an industry marked by booms and busts, especially in a fast-growing and fluctuating market like Las Vegas, requires adaptability and emotional strength. Many agents come and go, but those who endure are usually those who keep their "why" front and center.

Daryl’s story is a testament to this principle. He started young, mowing lawns and delivering newspapers as a kid growing up in Las Vegas. From early entrepreneurial efforts, his drive led him to launch a landscaping business after high school. Soon after, he co-founded Masonry Builders of NV in 1991, which rose to become one of the top masonry companies in the city within a decade. However, rapid growth came with risks.

In that sense, He said: “We ended up taking on more business than we should have, we ended up losing that business to a general contractor that would not pay us May of 2001.”

That year proved a personal and professional turning point, compounded by the challenges of a failing marriage and the shifting economic landscape. In addition, Daryl recalls that “2001 was a tough year for me. In May 2001 I had no business and was single. Then in Sept 2001 our country would never be the same.”

On the other hand, a new chapter began when a contractor supported Daryl to attend real estate school in 2002. Daryl quickly saw opportunity in buying and flipping homes, launching Vanquish Investments to raise capital for renovations. Between 2003 and 2008, business boomed — until the financial crisis hit hard.

Despite the setback, 2008 also brought blessings and about that he said: “Even though 2008 was VERY hard businesswise, I met my 2nd wife and future amazing daughter.” The following year marked another reinvention. “I did not become a Realtor until 2009... Because in 2009 is where I had to reinvent myself and figured out that even though flipping homes was no longer working, those same investors were now buying homes at 60-70% discounts! 2009-2011 ended up being my best years ever in real estate!”, Daryl affirmed.

Fatherhood also played a pivotal role in Daryl's life, with his son arriving in 2010. Today, Daryl co-owns The Batchelor/Hanna Group, which launched in 2018 and now ranks among Las Vegas’s top five teams. With 25 agents and four full-time staff, the group reflects his vision of growth and leadership.

His advice to newer and seasoned agents alike is simple but powerful: “This entire business is ALL about mindset! You have to find your "WHY" and get it up and visual. Post your WHY on your bathroom walls. mirrors and on the walls in your office. In your car!”

After over two decades in real estate, he stresses the importance of health and attitude. In that line, Daryl shared: “After 23 years as a real estate agent, I have learned that you have to have a solid mindset and you have to take care of yourself. You cannot be a top producing agent and be in bad health. Or have a negative attitude and I have found that when you have a big enough "WHY", you can accomplish anything!”

Looking ahead, Daryl envisions an expansive future: “In 5 years I see my team being the #1 team in Las Vegas with 100+ agents. We would have teams in 3 different states", he said.

His family remains his driving force. His son plays hockey for the Chicago Fury after seven seasons with the Las Vegas Jr Knights, and Daryl shares immense pride in both his children. “My son would be playing in the NHL by that time… My daughter still lives here in Las Vegas and just bought her first home. Words cannot describe how proud I am of her. How proud I am of both of them! They are my "WHY".”

As a true Las Vegas native with over 2,400 homes sold and more than a billion dollars in sales, Daryl is focused on serving luxury clients and newcomers relocating to the city. “Being a true Las Vegas native of 53 years and having sold over 2400 homes (over $1billion in sales) I am highly confident I have a lot to offer anyone looking to call Las Vegas home!”

Daryl’s journey of rebuilding and reinvention underscores that success is rarely linear but always rooted in perseverance and clarity of purpose. For him, it all boils down to mindset and the power of knowing why you do what you do.
